Day 9 – Resist Technique #2

Sorry, I missed posting yesterday…I got caught up watching America’s Got Talent, hehehe.  I love that show, there are so many great acts this year! Today was a bit of a tough one so when I was making the card for tonight I was thinking of a couple of good girlfriends that I really miss hanging out with.  I’m not sure why we don’t get together more often…this summer has just been so busy with lots of little things and a few big events.

Anyway, today’s card was inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I didn’t follow the sketch exactly but the card has all of the elements :) The card base is Very Vanilla, and the background is Bashful Blue. The torn piece of Bashful Blue designer paper was stamped using the flower from the ”Three Little Words” stamp set in versamark ink and embossed using clear embossing power. I used Night of Navy ink and a brayer to cover the torn piece. Then I buffed it with a paper towel to remove the ink from the embossed area…and that’s the resist technique!!!  The “Three Little Words” and “I miss you” sentiments were stamped in Night of Navy on Very Vanilla card stock. The flower was randomly stamped in Bashful Blue ink on the Bashful Blue card stock piece. The “I miss you” sentiment was punched out using the 1-1/4 circle punch, the 1-3/8 circle punch was used to punch out a piece of Night of Navy designer paper and apiece of Bashful Blue was punched out using the scalloped circle punch. I used my 1/16 inch circle punch to make the holes in the scallops. All of the pieces were sponged using Night of Navy. The scalloped circle was attached using silver cord (not sure if it’s sill available). I hope you like tonight’s card.

Day 8 – Resist Technique #1

Wow…I can’t believe the long weekend is over already. At least it’s a 4 day week this week!

I’ve been wanting to try this resist technique for a while and I finally decided to try it tonight. All you need is a white crayon! I started by stamping the flower from the “Because I Care” hostess level 1 stamp set in black and coloured it using Stampin’ Write markers in this year’s In Colours, Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz. Than I used the white crayon to cover the image. Using a sponge I sponged the sky in Marina Mist and the grass in Old Olive.  Once all the sponging was done, I used a paper towel to remove the Marina Mist and Old Olive ink off the white crayon revealing my coloured image. To cut the circle around the image, I traced the cardboard that my white Organza ribbon came wrapped on in pencil and cut it out. Using an exacto knife I cut a slit on both sides of the circle and threaded the 1/4 inch Old Olive grosgrain ribbon. I stamped the “happy birthday” using Poppy Parade on whisper white and used the Word Window punch to punch it out and the 1/16 inch circle punch to make the hole for the orangy-red embroidery floss.  Using Marina Mist, the little flowers from the “Because I Care” stamp set were stamped along the bottom of the card on the Peach Parfait textured card stock. The main image and the happy birthday tag were attached to the Peach Parfait background using foam adhesive and the whole thing was attached to the Crumb Cake card base using snail. I should mention that this is a 4×4 card. I may try another resist technique tomorrow, so make sure to check it out!!! I hope you like today’s card.

Day 7 – {Friend to Friend}

The inspiration for today’s card comes from this week’s PPA (Pal Paper Arts) Monochromatic Colour Challenge. The colour is of course purple…good thing, because I love purple!Rich Razzleberry was one of the In Colours from 2009, but thank goodness for Stampin’ Up!’s colour renovation which made it a core colour starting in 2010. The card started out as a Rich Razzleberry base, followed by the purple paper from the retired designer series paper, Cottage Wall. I loved that pack and I was very sad to see it retire. The ribbon is also retired but you can still get other Rich Razzleberry ribbon that are just as beautiful. The watercolour looking flower is from the level 2 hostess set, Fast & Fabulous. I stamped the lined image using Rich Razzleberry and than stamped the solid image on scrap paper before stamping over my lined image, also using Rich Razzleberry. This is a great technique if you want a lighter version of a colour.  The butterfly was cut and embossed using the Beautiful Wings embosslit, it really is so beautiful…I was so happy to see that it was carried over from the Occassions Mini catalogue. I used my 2-way glue and Dazzle Diamonds to trace the embossed swirls on the larger butterfly and used a clear rhinestone brad for the head. To finish it all off I used a black thin Sharpie to draw the antennas and my white gel pen to draw the dots on the mat of the flower.  I hope you like the card. Why don’t you try to make an all purple card to and see what you come up with?

Day 6 – A happy Thank you

Lesson learned for today — One of the side effects of non-drowsy Reactine is drowsiness…does that make sense to anyone??? LOL.

If you’re wondering about the title of this post, it’s because today’s card just makes me happy. I love the bright colours, the contemporary design and the fact that all the pieces started out as scraps on my desk. The pattern paper is from the Island Oasis Designer Series Paper in the Summer mini. It’s one of my favourite paper packs because it has the best colours ever…too bad it’s only around till the end of August:( I used my scalloped edge punch to make the Tempting Turquoise edge and my word window punch to make the three horizontal Rose Red lines. The sentiment is from the stamp set ”With all my heart”, I’m so glad this stamp set was carried over from the Occasions Mini.  I added some random green buttons and used my corner rounder to round off the bottom corners of the card. Here’s the card, I hope you like it.

Day 5 – You’re on my mind!

Hello there, I hope you’re all doing well. For today’s card I used Stampin’ Write Markers to colour in the flowers and the stems on the stamp, puffed on the stamp and stamped it on whisper white paper. I love these markers because they makes it so easy to use multiple colours on the same stamp. There are so many uses for these markers and they come in every Stampin’ Up! colour, maybe I’ll show you another technique tomorrow.  I hope you like the card.

Day 3 – A little late!

I didn’t post yesterday because it was my cousin’s wedding, so things were a tad busy.  The wedding was beautiful and the party was tons of fun…I don’t think my daughter got off the dance floor for a minute. My son was a bit of a handful, but that’s just how he is, LOL! I’ve almost recovered.

Today was lots of fun too, I made a Build-a-Bear card with my daughter’s daycare class. The kids (all 16 of them) were great, they made an “I {heart} You Beary Much” card which some plan on giving to their mom, dad, pet, sibling or even their stuffed animal. They all loved it and were giving me high fives and hugs when I was leaving. That made me so happy and I think it made my daughter very proud. I hope their parents like the cards too. It took the kids about an hour to make one card, so I’ve decided to offer kids birthday parties where the kids get to make two projects. I think the Build-a-bear and the Make a Monster stamp sets would be perfect for that…I’m getting so excited about it!!!

Anyway, on to yesterday’s card. It uses one of my favourite stamp sets, Vintage Vogue, and my all time favourite colour, Rich Razzleberry. I hope you like it!

Day 2 — A card fit for a bride and groom!

Good evening! I made today’s card for my cousin’s wedding. My daughter is going to be the flower girl and she’s super excited. I wish I could take credit for the creative idea of this card but I can’t. I got the idea and the template from Lynn Pratt.  I’ll update the product list at the end of the post on Monday, but for now I hope you enjoy the card!

I’m BACK!!!

I’m BAAAACK!!! Sorry it’s been so long since I posted any cards or videos on my blog. Things were just so crazy from February to April and I guess I just fell out of the habit of taking pictures of my cards and writing on my blog. I’ve decided to change all of that and I’m starting today!!!  I made a bunch of cards in the last week or so and took pictures of them all to show you. I’ll be posting a picture a day for the next 10 days. I think you’re going to really like the simple designs I’ve chosen.  I hope you’ll join me and leave me a comment or two!!!

Happy Valentine’s!!!

Tomorrow both kids are having their Valentine’s day parties at school, which means we had to prepare cards for all kids in their classes tonight. My daughter wanted princess cards for her friends, so we bought those and put a lollipop and sticker with each one. I was so proud of her, she printed her name, the names of her teachers and the names of most kids on their cards. She’s very excited about giving them out tomorrow! I got to make the cards for my son’s classmates and his teachers…YAY!!!  Here is one of the cards I made tonight. I hope you like it and enjoy the video. Please leave a comment!

Ink: Real Red and Pretty in Pink

Keepin’ it Simple and Sweet!

I know I haven’t been actively posting like I hoped I would be at the beginning of the year. I’ve just been exhausted with my son getting sick, than preparing my swap for the demonstrator Megameeting, than for the Open house and now I’m preparing for the first Scrapbooking Club meeting on February 18th.  Besides all that, I’m in the search for hostesses, so if you’re interested give me a call ;) . I was hoping to have a workshop or two during Sale-a-bration but it seems like everyone is just too busy. I totally understand!!! Speaking of that demo megameeting, I forgot to share my swap card with you; I’ll take a picture of it and post it tomorrow.

With everything going on and everyone being so busy, I decided to put together a couple of super simple and fast cards. Using KISS (Keep it simple sweetie!) design principles makes these cards fun and beautiful (or at least I think so :) ). I hope you like them too!

Note: I promise never to wear that sweat shirt again while making a video, so you can actually see my hands.

I can’t believe it’s almost been a whole week since I posted…wow, time flies! I’m not sure if the pictures of this card do it justice, it’s such a beautiful card. Never ending B-day card video!

WOW, this card took forever to make and the video took forever to edit. I must have been so tired when I was making it because nothing seemed to work out. I think I did and re-did every part of the card at least 2-3 times, could you hear the frustration in my voice? In the end I finally have a card and a video to share with you. If you find this video a little long, I’m really really sorry…I tried to cut out as much of it as I could but I may have missed some parts where I’m just thinking about how to fix it or how to make it better. At least you’ll get a little taste of what goes on in my head when I’m making a card, LOL!!! I made this card for a Crazy 4 Challenge, I just hope I didn’t miss the deadline. Anyway, enjoy the video!

Cards from the weekend!

This has been a very busy weekend with lots of cards being made, given, and taken…It was wonderful! I love seeing people’s faces when they get a hand made card. It makes them feel very special. Or at least I hope they feel that way!

I made two baptism cards, a card for the card contest at the Stampin’ Up meeting on Sunday, a card for my WOW presentation, and 6 make-and-takes. You’d think I’d be all carded out, but I’m totally inspired to create more!!! As part of the meeting on Sunday, I also participated in a card swap with 19 other demonstrators. I posted a video of the card I swapped last week (it was the red and white Thank you card).  Here are the pictures of the baptism cards, my WOW card, and the card I entered in the card contest. My wow card was a last minute attempt at using leather on a card, hence the belt. I originally tried shoes but that didn’t work out too well. Anyway, enjoy the cards and leave me a comment!
