1 Design, 2 Cards!

I love weekends! Today I got to spend most of the day with the kids and I made it a point not to rush too much. Believe it or not I actually feel terrible about always telling my kids to hurry up, let’s go, we’re going to be late. I think it’s all my kids hear from me during the week, so it’s nice sometimes to let them do things at their own pace. Even if it drives me crazy on the inside.

It was my friend Victoria’s baby shower today so I made her a bib card but I forgot to take a picture of it before running out the door. I’ll have to ask her if I can take a picture of it so I can share with you…I just thought it was the cutest thing ever (I’m a little biased, heehee). The shower was a lot of fun and I think my daughter enjoyed it too, she really liked Caesar their cat. I’ll have to ask Victoria’s mother-in-law for the cake recipe, it was delicious!!!

Here are the two cards I made today. I’ll be sending the Halloween card to Gaile, the demonstrator that gave me the key chain yesterday. Halloween is her favourite holiday (if that’s what we’re calling it) so I thought she might like it better than a thank you card. To be honest, I don’t even own a Halloween stamp set so this card was a stretch for me and I hope she likes it. I really liked the design though so I thought I’d try it with the Candy Cane designer paper from the mini. I hope you like the cards!

So much to tell you today!

Today was totally awesome! I started the day at Stamparama, where I got a ton of  ideas that I can’t wait to share with you.  I will be adding the following three classes to my fall schedule, I’m just not sure of the dates yet:

1. Gift Card Holders and Tags

2. Birthday Calendar

3. Teacher’s Christmas Gifts – so many great handmade gift ideas

Besides enjoying the actual events of the day, a fellow demonstrator gave me the cutest key chain with my name on it as a congratulations for getting in the paper. It was so sweet, it made me cry!!! I was truly touched, thank you so much Gaile – you’re awesome!

On the way home I stopped in to drop off something at my friend Andrea’s house. She was cookin’ something that smelled so yummy, if I hadn’t seen the kids all day I would’ve invited myself over for dinner ;) Nice chat but I had to hurry home to see the kids. For some reason I tend to miss them more on the weekends.

I got home and started to play with the kids, but apparently I fell asleep on the couch. When I woke up I thought I had drifted off for a few minutes but was told that I had been out for more an hour. Time flies when you’re sleeping I guess!

The best part of my day was definitely movie night with my daughter. We watched Toy Story which she never watched before.  She was actually crying for Buzz and Woody when she thought they weren’t going to make it unto the truck. She’s such a sweetheart!

Anyway, I know you’re all waiting to see the card for today so here it is. It uses my favourite item in the Holiday Mini, the Northern Flurry embossing folder. I hope you like it!

Raising the Scale!

That was the caption under my picture with Michelle Kerby in the Oakville Beaver (our local paper) today…it’s kinda weird seeing a picture of myself in the paper but totally COOL!

I’ve decided to make October a complete OTMH month, so to help raise even more money for that scale I’ll be donating 10% of all sales in October. But that’s not all, the card designs from the Stampin’ for OTMH event will remain exclusive to that event, so that means I will not be using those designs in any other classes or workshops ever again. However, if you want help the hospital and get your hands on those beautiful cards (and I know you do) you can purchase a set of 5 cards for $25, of which $15 will be donated to the hospital. These cards will only be for sale until the end of October and there is a limited number of sets available so make sure to send me an email with your order as soon as possible.  This is so exciting!!!

Knowing that some of you may not get the Oakville Beaver and since they don’t have the full version online, I’ve uploaded the picture they used for you to see.

You can kind of see the cards, but they are way prettier in person.

By the way, one of the ladies that used to come to scrapbooking can’t come anymore because of other commitments. So if you want to try it out before you commit to coming next year let me know and we could arrange a trial evening.  Also, don’t forget about the great bundles currently available at 20%.

1 Design, 2 looks!

I just finished my scrapbook pages for tomorrow’s monthly scrapbooking session and I LOVE them! I liked the design so much that I had to use some of the elements from the  layout to make the cards for today. The ladies in my scrapbooking club will get to learn these techniques tomorrow. I hope you’re getting excited ladies…I know I am!!!

For today’s cards, I used the same design for both cards and just changed the designer paper and the sentiment. The birthday card is for one of my daughter’s friends who will be turning 5 in November. I hope you like the cards, please leave me a comment!

Thank you!!!

Today’s Stampin’ for OTMH event was so much FUN and a huge success! We raised more than our goal and I think everyone had a wonderful time. I can’t wait till the next one!!! I promise to share some pictures of the event tomorrow; I’m just too tired to look at the pictures tonight. To everyone that came I just want to say “THANK YOU for helping us get to our goal and for making it so much fun”. And to those that helped pull it all together, Andrea, Victoria and my mom, I really couldn’t have done it with you and I truly appreciate all the time and effort you put into making this event the success that it was. I’d also like to thank Michelle Kerby, from the Oakville Hospital Foundation, for coming out to support our event. She started out as a beginner stamper but was assisting everyone else around her by the end of the day. Jon and Matt (my hubby) thank you for rearranging all the furniture and removing all the knick knacks…I loved how everything looked when I came downstairs this morning. Good night for now!

Scalloped Merry Christmas!

I haven’t disappeared, I promise…I’ve just been so busy preparing for Sunday’s Stampin’ for OTMH event. It’s so so so exciting, I can hardly wait. The cards are so beautiful, if I must say so myself. Everyone that has seen them has really loved them.

Today’s card is so cute! I recorded myself making it in hopes of sharing a video with you but my when I switched computers earlier this year I guess I didn’t reinstall my video editing software. I’ll try to install it sometime next week so I can edit and show you the video I recorded for you. Anyway, I hope you like it!

Turkey-Lurkey!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and are ready for a new week. I can’t believe it’s Thanksgiving this coming weekend! Is it just me or has September just whirled by? Today’s card is so cute and I’m so excited about sharing it with you. It uses a sweet treat cup from Stampin’ Up! and a bunch of punches to make a sweet Turkey full of treats (well, mine just full of trail mix because I couldn’t find any candy). I’m going to try to find some brown, red and orange Jelly Bellies to put in there instead. You’ll notice from the second picture that you can actually open and refill the sweet cup as many times as you like. I’ll probably make a few more of these cards for my nephews and some for my daughter’s friends that we’ll be seeing this weekend.  If you want to see a video of how I made this card, let me know and I’ll try to put one up later this week. I hope you like the card.

More Gratitude for you!

Just wanted to share another picture of a card we made at the Regionals using the Day of Gratitude stamp set.

Here is a picture of all the stamps in that stamp set. It was actually one of the first stamp sets I noticed in the Holiday Mini. I think I just really like the symmetry.

We also made this really nice scrapbook page which I’m going to use as the inspiration for October’s scrapbooking night.  The picture on the scrapbook page was taken by my husband during our cottage vacation during the summer (the tree was really growing that way!). What great memories that brings back, we can’t wait to go back next summer.

Counting down to Christmas!

I wish I could sign-up as a demonstrator all over again…did you see that craft tote? Did you see that Eat Chocolate stamp set? If you haven’t, check out my post from yesterday. I just love the sentiment that says “I would give up chocolate but I’m no quitter”. What can I say, it makes me smile. Anyway, things are pretty quiet here *mostly because the kids are in bed* but also because my order doesn’t get here until next Monday. That’s when things will get really crazy around here, I’m sure of it!!!

I was browsing through the Holiday Mini Catalogue (again) earlier today and I just have to share the cutest little thing with you. This is a must have for me this year! I think it’s going be so much fun putting it together with the kids and then having them open each one to find a little treat everyday as we get closer to Christmas. In case you didn’t know, Christmas is my favourite time of the year. Here’s a picture of the Candy Countdown Calendar kit.

For just $24.95 you get:

  • (25) fast-fold boxes, 1-1/2″ x 1-7/8″ x 3-1/2″, widening to 2-1/8″ x 2-5/8″ at the top
  • (25) 12″ ribbon strips
  • (25) clothespins
  • 5 yards twine rope
  • Three sheets of 8-1/2″ x 11″ die-cut designs (pictured below)
  • Perfect decor item for the holidays
  • Boxes that can be used as ornaments or favor boxes
  • Tons of fun with your family putting it all together and then sharing the treats you put inside

I’m getting excited already!!!

For today’s card, it’s another one that we made at Regionals on Saturday. I hope you like it.

WOW, WOW, WOW…is all I can say!!!

Ok, so I just realized it’s been a month since I posted but I have a really good excuse…sort of. I finished reorganizing my stamp room and I absolutely LOVE it! I’ve also been busily planning for the OTMH fundraiser. I’m so happy to report that there are currently 21 ladies confirmed for the day. I’m so so excited!

Today was the coolest day of my Stampin’ Up! career because I got to meet Shelli Gardner, co-founder and CEO of Stampin’ Up! She’s so nice and best of all she helped create this totally awesome company, that I’m very proud to be a part of.  Seriously, which other CEO do you know of that gets a standing ovation when they walk on stage? What it comes down to is this company encourages creativity, FUN and allows you to run your business the way that best works for you and your family.  They’re accepting of both hobbyists and full time big business owners just the same. Other demonstartor have told me how much fun these events are but you can’t really appreciate it until you experience it first hand.  There were 6 make-and-take projects, a ton of great presentations, and 6 WOWs (and they really did make us all go “WOW!”). Just imagine being in a room full of the most creative women that want to share their love of stamping.  I want to tell you that now is a wonderful time to join Stampin’ Up! because there are 2 great deals that you won’t want to miss. I’ll tell you all about the offers tomorrow and I’ll share some more pictures. Anyway, here’s a picture of Shelli and I…so cool!

For the next few days I will be sharing projects we made at Regionals today. All the projects use the Day of Gratitude stamp set from the Holiday Mini…it’s so beautiful, isn’t it? Notice the matching envelope?

I’ll be back soon!

Hi there! I just wanted to post a quick message to let you know that I will be back. I’m currently redoing my scrap room and can’t really create much in there right now. Hopefully it’ll all be done by the end of the weekend so I can start posting again next week. Come back soon!

Stampin’ for OTMH (Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital)!

With Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner, what better time is there to give? To start the season of giving off on the right foot, I’ve decided to raise funds for the Oakville Hospital Foundation during the months of September and October in the following ways:

Stampin’ for OTMH Charity Event – On Sunday October 17th I will be holding a stamp-a-stack event to help get you ready for Christmas with time to spare. You’ll get to make 10 beautiful Christmas cards (2 cards of 5 designs) for just $25 or 20 cards (4 cards of 5 designs) for $45 and ALLproceeds will be donated to the Oakville Hospital Foundation. Please reply with the number of cards you would like to make by September 17th so I can prepare all the materials.

Stampin’ Parties –10% of all workshop sales during September and October will be donated to the Oakville Hospital Foundation.

The construction of the new hospital is scheduled to start in 2011 and finish in 2015. Once completed the hospital will be an environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art facility that’s three times the size of the current one; a centre of healthcare excellence designed first and foremost with the patient in mind. Having been at the hospital many times for one reason or another in the last 4 years, I can attest to the need for more rooms and equipment. The kindness and expertise of the staff is second to none which is why I’m using these events to support the hospital and I hope that you will join me.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.  To get more information about the new hospital please visit www.oakvillehospitalfoundation.com.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Just for you!

I guess I’m posting weekly now…oops! I actually made a couple of cards this week but I couldn’t find the memory card for my camera so I wasn’t able to take pictures of them before giving them away. Luckily I found my memory card this evening so I could take a picture of one of the cards I made today. I made four for my daughter’s teachers at daycare.  They have been so wonderful with her and our whole family, just so loving and caring…exactly what you would want in a teacher! We’re all going to miss them so much when she starts going to BIG girl school  in less than 2 weeks. YIKES!!! I’ve been busy planning my first (I say first because I hope to have others) Stampin’ for OTMH charity event  which I will tell you about in the next post.

For today’s card I used the Oasis Island designer series paper I was telling you about in my last post. I love this card because it shows so many of the different patterns in this series. So colourful and cheerful, just what I needed today! I used the Afterthoughts hostess level 1 stamp set for the sentiment. This stamp set is totally awesome, the stamp I used today says “Just for you…so you don’t have to share”. I’ll share more cards using this stamp set in next little while. The large rhinestone from the Basic Rhinestones pack made another appearance on today’s card. These rhinestones are an easy and affordable way to add some bling to your projects. I hope you like the card too!

For your Shower

Tonight was my monthly scrapbooking night for July…and we’re officially more than half way done 2010. I was totally excited about tonight  because we  used one of my favourite designer series paper packs, Island Oasis from the Summer Mini. I’m going to be so sad when it retires on August 31st. I’ve been holding onto that paper pack since March when I pre-ordered it and I finally got to use it, YAY!!! I’m going to use it to a make a card this weekend, maybe for my sister’s birthday…I can’t wait! I’ll make sure to post a picture of that card as soon as I finish making it.

For today’s card, I made a wedding shower card for someone very special. I guess it could be for a baby shower too. I used the retired Sending Love specialty paper. I’m not sure if you can tell from the picture but the top patterned paper is actually pre-glittered, it’s so pretty! I used a cotton paper flower and dyed it using a few drops from the Pretty In Pink reinker and silver shimmer paint in rubbing alcohol. The flower is attached to the Very Vanilla card stock using a rhinestone brad…another one of my new favourite embellishments! To break up the two patterned papers in the background, the both edges of the Chocolate Chip 5/8 inch satin ribbon were glued to the back of the Real Red card stock using Snail adhesive. I hope she likes the card and I hope you do too.

Christmas in August

I can’t believe it’s been a whole week since I last posted, things have been pretty busy around here. I had a workshop on Friday that I was preparing for and it turned out great! This week I will be preparing for my monthly scrapbooking club, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to post this week. I already have an idea for Thursday’s session but I still have to put my pages together and get everyone’s packages all ready. I’m really excited about this month’s layout, it’s going to use some techniques I haven’t used before and I just can’t wait to try them out!

Today’s card is the first Christmas card of the season and it’s a super simple one. Starting in September my workshops will all be Christmas themed…YAY, I love Christmas!!! I’m starting to book my Septmeber workshops so if you’re interested in hosting please give me shout. I hope you like today’s card.

Make a difference!

I bet you thought this was a card…but I thought I’d make something a little different today, so I altered a notebook instead. I find that I’m more inspired to use something if it looks pretty. I’m trying to be more orgainized, hence the notebook! I know it looks very similar to a card I made not too long ago but what can I say, I love Rich Razzleberry and the Cottage Wall designer series paper!!! The butterfly stamp is from the Punch Potpourri hostess level 1 stamp set and the sentiment “One person can make such a difference and that person is you” is from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set. I used silver shimmer paint to outline the butterfly and the small Basic Rhinestones for the antennas. This was very simple and quick to put together. I hope you like the notebook.

Day 10 – Thanks so Much

YAY…it’s the weekend! I wanted to post last night about the lady I met on the train yesterday on the way home.  I only started to talk to her on the last two stops but I wished I could have talked to her longer. She wasn’t the person I thought she would be. She looked like she was in her 20′s and seemed unapproachable but boy was I wrong. She was sweet, kind, open about her life and to my surprise she has a 25 year-old child. She’s studying for her second career and has to travel 3 hours each way to get to school. She had to switch her career because of health issues that prevent her from doing her previous job. Not only did her story make me realize how fortunate I am, it also showed me how inner strength and determination can help us in overcoming the obstacles that stand in our way. I didn’t get her name but I hope I run into her on the train again soon. Today’s card is dedicated to her as a thank you for helping me put a few things in perspective.

The card base is a 4×4 Basic Black card stock that was stamped with the flower from the “Three little Words” stamp set in versamark ink and than clear embossed. The focal point of the card uses a technique I learned from Laura Robinson at her demonstrator Megameeting. One of the best perks of being a demonstrator is going to Downline meetings and Regionals (I’m going to my first Regional in September…I’m so so so so so so excited, I can hardly wait). These “meetings” are so much FUN, we learn so many techniques, meet other crazy stampers and the best part is…we get to STAMP! Ok, here is the technique. I cut the edges of a photo protector so that is was only attached on one side and inked the inside with Silver, Gold and Rich Razzleberry re-inkers. I squished the ink all around and than put a piece of Whisper White card stock in the protector and rubbed it so the ink sticks to it. I did that a few times until the ink was light enough to stamp over. And that’s how I got that neat looking background for my flower stamp.

I used my Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry stampin’ write markers to colour in the flower, huffed on it and stamped in on the inked up Whisper White card stock piece. I matted it on Old Olive card stock then I tore the edge of a piece of Rich Razzleberry and used my bone folder to raise the edge and give it more texture. I glued the three little butterflies which I cut out using the Beautiful Wings embosslit from Rich Razzleberry card stock. I finished the card off by tying the Old Olive 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon and sticking the rhinestone at the base of the flower. I just got the rhinestone stickers (which are new in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalogue) yesterday and I love them already!!! I’ve already used them on a scrapbook page and on this card. Did I mention they were a great deal? You get 150 rhinestones plus 3 3inch strips of rhinestones for under $7. I think these might actually take the place of my 2-way glue and Dazzling Diamonds as my most cost effective BLING!!! I hope you like the card.
