Wow…I can’t believe the long weekend is over already. At least it’s a 4 day week this week!
I’ve been wanting to try this resist technique for a while and I finally decided to try it tonight. All you need is a white crayon! I started by stamping the flower from the “Because I Care” hostess level 1 stamp set in black and coloured it using Stampin’ Write markers in this year’s In Colours, Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz. Than I used the white crayon to cover the image. Using a sponge I sponged the sky in Marina Mist and the grass in Old Olive. Once all the sponging was done, I used a paper towel to remove the Marina Mist and Old Olive ink off the white crayon revealing my coloured image. To cut the circle around the image, I traced the cardboard that my white Organza ribbon came wrapped on in pencil and cut it out. Using an exacto knife I cut a slit on both sides of the circle and threaded the 1/4 inch Old Olive grosgrain ribbon. I stamped the “happy birthday” using Poppy Parade on whisper white and used the Word Window punch to punch it out and the 1/16 inch circle punch to make the hole for the orangy-red embroidery floss. Using Marina Mist, the little flowers from the “Because I Care” stamp set were stamped along the bottom of the card on the Peach Parfait textured card stock. The main image and the happy birthday tag were attached to the Peach Parfait background using foam adhesive and the whole thing was attached to the Crumb Cake card base using snail. I should mention that this is a 4×4 card. I may try another resist technique tomorrow, so make sure to check it out!!! I hope you like today’s card.
